Beşiktaş Municipality Becomes a Member of Rainbow Cities Network!

The Beşiktaş Municipality, which adopts fighting against any kind of discrimination as its key principle, and is the stronghold of liberties, democracy, equality and fellowship, has become a member of another international network standing up for fundamental rights and liberties: The Rainbow Cities Network.

The Rainbow Cities Network is based on the principles such as respect, diversity and comprehensiveness in common life spaces and the social life. The member cities of this network adopt the responsibility that the LGBTI citizens are not subjected to any form of discrimination or violence where they live.

The member municipalities of the Rainbow Cities Network are liable to perform the following liabilities;

• To develop an active LGBTI policy through their executive bodies and to include LGBTI individuals in their local political issues,

• To appoint one or two LGBTI individuals in order to represent their municipality in the Rainbow Cities Network and enable such representatives to attend the annual meetings held within the body of the network, and also to actively contribute to the interchanging activities within the network,

• To compile a table indicating the interchanging activities carried out annually and the studies performed regarding the LGBTI individuals; and to publish such activities and studies on the website of the Rainbow Cities Network in order to declare them to the public.
