Beşiktaş Municipality is one of the partners of “Theatre: Connecting People,” an Erasmus+ KA210 Adult Education project that aims to support adult educators working with migrants, refugees, and displaced individuals, while using theatre as a tool for social inclusion and intercultural learning.
The project’s first international training event was hosted by Beşiktaş Municipality in Istanbul between 25–30 May 2025. Educators, facilitators, and migrant participants from Türkiye, Poland, and Italy explored the role of theatre in fostering social inclusion, engaging in hands-on theatre workshops and intercultural communication activities to share their experiences.
The second phase took place in Leszno, Poland, between 2–8 November 2025. During this stage, project partners completed training sessions, a theatre performance, and evaluation meetings. The play, staged at Teatr Miejski in Leszno, focused on the theme of migration and featured scenes performed in Turkish, English, Italian, Polish, and Spanish. Watched by an audience of around 120 people, the performance shed light on the experiences of migrants and created deeply emotional moments.
At the end of the show, the performers met with the audience for a Q&A session, engaging in an inspiring discussion about the unifying power of theatre.
About the Project
Theatre: Connecting People is implemented under the Erasmus+ KA210 Adult Education Program. The project aims to promote social inclusion and strengthen intercultural dialogue by using theatre as a means to support the integration of migrants into society.
Throughout its 15-month duration, the project includes trainings, workshops, and theatre performances that bring migrants’ stories to the stage while helping adult educators develop innovative teaching methods.
Coordinated by Fundacja Cooperacja (Poland) and implemented in partnership with Beşiktaş Municipality (Türkiye) and Le Tre Ghinee Aps (Italy), this international collaboration highlights the transformative power of art and contributes to building a more inclusive European society.
