Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan

Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat made a statement about the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) implemented in cooperation with Beşiktaş Municipality and IMM Istanbul Enerji A.S.: “We change Beşiktaş for the better all together,” Mayor Akpolat said, “The report covering our goal will be an example for all local governments.”

Rıza Akpolat spoke about the “Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan” launched to combat climate change and realize sustainability goals in Beşiktaş and said, “Today, I am very happy to share with you our 'Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan', which is a big step for the future of Beşiktaş. We are aware of the importance of local governments in combating climate change. Beşiktaş Municipality plans to take the necessary actions and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 41% until 2030, which marks the commitment year of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. I hope that our report, which covers this great goal, will set an example for all local governments in our country.”

“We will Complete our Preparations against Climate Issues”

Akpolat noted that they identified 7 goals and 27 strategic action steps in the plan, established in line with two main objectives: “We will ensure energy efficiency, renewable energy use and carbon reduction to increase environmental sustainability. We will increase physical and social resilience against the impacts of climate change. We will complete our preparations against major climate issues such as extreme precipitation, heat island effects and rising sea level. We will take steps together for a greener, cleaner and more resilient Beşiktaş.
