Organic Wastes Transformed into Compost Blends with Nature in Beşiktaş!

The International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) submitted a ‘Soil Day’ proposal to the United Nations in 2002 in order to draw attention to the importance of soil on human health and the continuation of natural life. The proposal was accepted in December 2013 and December 5 was marked as World Soil Day, being celebrated annually. Our municipality, which is administered with an environmentally-friendly understanding and carries out important efforts to leave a more livable nature to future generations, drew attention to the World Soil Day by presenting Beşiktaş residents with seeds. Listening to the demands and problems of our citizens by visiting all the locations in Beşiktaş, our field solution teams knocked on the doors of our citizens on Saturday, December 5th and gave them seeds in memory of the day.

Our municipality has also developed a system in Ortaköy and Ulus. By means of this system, organic wastes, which are vital for soil productivity, are brought together with nature. Organic wastes converted into compost with closed system compost devices are used as soil additives in the parks and gardens in our district, and organic wastes are brought back to nature this way.
