Onay Akbaş's Personal Pattern Exhibition Meets with Art Lovers in Beşiktaş!

Artist Onay Akbaş's personal pattern exhibition "Çizgi, Bir Uçtan Öbür Uca - Traits, D 'un Bout à L 'utre" was opened for art lovers to view at the Historical Hüsrev Kethüda Hammam by our municipality. Opened by Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat and attended by many famous names, the exhibition attracted great interest.

Artist Onay Akbaş, who has been pursuing his artistic endeavors in Paris for 34 years, invites art lovers to have a taste of his works by opening the doors of his adventure in the creation process that reaches from "Idea to Work", bringing together carefully hidden sketches and patterns of his works produced between 1984 and 2022. Within the scope of the exhibition, a comprehensive bilingual pattern book (Turkish-French), written by Yalın Alpay, bearing the signature of Nedim Gürsel, was presented to art lovers. The exhibition included 250 sketches and patterns, and was visited in the Historical Hüsrev Kethüda Hammam until April 30.

In his speech at the opening of the exhibition, Yalın Alpay, the author of the extensive Turkish-French pattern book accompanying Onay Akbaş's exhibition, made the following comments: "Onay Akbaş is not a color-based painter, but one based on lines. His sketches directly confront us with the true essence of his art. Therefore, I think that the sketch manifests itself not only as a sketch, but as a work of art. Therefore, it is useful to see each of these works, scattered over a period of 38 years, as works of art. Because at first glance, such meanings may not be attributed to sketches. But I think this is the main point of Akbaş's art in my opinion. "
