"My First Ball" Project Launched in Beşiktaş!

Beşiktaş Municipality’s İsmet İnönü Sports Facilities hosted the promotion of an important project on Sunday, November 14th 2021.

The publicity event for the "My First Ball" project, carried out in cooperation with "Girls on the Field" Organization and Adidas Turkey, was hosted by the Beşiktaş Municipality at our İsmet İnönü Sports Facilities. The Brazilian football player Josef De Souza, who plays for the Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club (BJK), participated in the promotion of the project, which was initiated with the purpose of introducing football to girls at a young age and endearing them to sports in general terms.

Highlighting the motto "Come, let's shoot the first ball at prejudices together", 50 girls took the field and trained with a view to demolish the cliché suggesting that girls cannot play football. The girls who played football as part of the campaign on the same field with Sevgi Çınar, İrem Eren and Melike Öztürk, who are the players of the BJK Women's Football Team, were awarded certificates by the BJK football player Josef De Souza at the end of the day.

“We are happy to host such a meaningful event and we will always continue supporting girls in every field of sports.” said Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat.
