Melodies from Mexico to Istanbul Enchant Audiences in Beşiktaş

In collaboration with the Consulate General of Mexico, Beşiktaş Municipality hosted the concert La Guitarra de Ida y Vuelta – A Musical Journey from Mexico to Istanbul on Friday, 28 November at the Zübeyde Ana Cultural and Arts Center.

In Beşiktaş — one of Istanbul’s leading hubs for arts and culture — audiences enjoyed an exceptional evening featuring Manuel Alonso, recognized as the first officially certified Mexican flamenco guitarist, and Fırat Dağıdır, acclaimed for his acoustic guitar performances and distinctive stage repertoire. Their program blended the melodic richness of Mexico with the cultural spirit of Istanbul, earning enthusiastic applause from attendees.

In the final part of the concert, vocalist Duygu Yücesoy, known for her work in Latin and world music, joined the artists with a selection of Spanish-language songs, adding vibrancy and color to the evening. The performance showcased both classical guitar pieces and unique examples from Mexico’s musical heritage.

Addressing the audience, Consul General of Mexico Alberto Garza emphasized the value of cultural exchange, stating:

“Cultural collaborations play a vital role in strengthening ties between our countries. I extend my sincere thanks to all the artists and to Beşiktaş Municipality for making this event possible.”
