On 3 December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Beşiktaş Municipality organized an awareness-raising event for persons with disabilities living in the district and their families. Held at Prof. Dr. Aykut Parka Earthquake Park, the gathering offered participants an enjoyable day filled with music, shared moments, and celebration.
Committed to strengthening the participation of persons with disabilities in social life, Beşiktaş Municipality aimed to further promote solidarity and inclusion on this special occasion. The program began with a rhythm performance by students from Nişantaşı Işık Secondary School, creating joyful moments for participants and their families. Following a communal lunch, a cake specially prepared for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities was cut as part of the celebrations.
Beşiktaş Deputy Mayor Şeref Şeker and Director of Social Services Halime Gizem Aksun presented aquariums to participants with disabilities as commemorative gifts. Accompanied by music throughout the day, the event provided a warm and inclusive atmosphere in which attendees could celebrate together.
Relatives of participants also shared their appreciation for the event. One parent highlighted the importance of the services provided by the Disability Coordination Center, noting the positive impact on their child’s well-being and expressing gratitude for being remembered on this meaningful day. Another parent emphasized the value of such initiatives in supporting families and making daily life easier for children with disabilities.
Through events such as this, Beşiktaş Municipality continues to underline its commitment to social inclusion, accessibility, and solidarity, while working to ensure that persons with disabilities and their families remain active and valued members of community life.
