Beşiktaş Municipality attended 10th International Forum of Local Economic Development

The 10th International Forum of Local Economic Development was held in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi on September 13-14, 2017 with the cooperation of Eurocities and Tbilisi Municipality.

Eurocities is a political platform networking over 130 local governments, and 40 partner cities from 35 countries for the cooperation in various areas and Beşiktaş Municipality is one of the associated partner cities of the platform.

10th International Forum of Local Economic Development

The title of the organization to which many cities all around the world has attended was ‘Progressive Cities’. From its inception, the forum has attracted huge interest and this year it has hosted more than 800 participants including the citizens, policy makers, urban planners, infrastructure operators, economists, industry representatives and academicians. During the two-day forum, the participants have exchanged ideas about the issues like change and improvement of the cities’ economic opportunities, effective use of local resources, ‘Smart and Progressive Cities’, urban adaptation and sustainability. They also have discussed on long-term, effective, and state-of-art solutions to the problems.

At the invitation of Tbilisi Municipality, a delegation from Beşiktaş Municipality has participated in the 10th International Forum of Local Economic Development. The representative committee has shared the information about the international activities, projects, and events of our Municipality with the participants in the session moderated by Eurocities “European Neighboring Policy and Enlargement Working Group”.

Creating a dynamic environment for the society and representing the basis for social, economic, and technological development, cities have been addressed widely in the forum which carries the main objectives of:  harmonization with European standards, smart and sustainable cities, support in tourism development, articulation and application of environmental strategies such as ‘Green Cities’ and ‘Energy Efficient Projects’, encouragement of investors and entrepreneurs.
