The first day of our Children's Festival, which lasted two days as part of the National Sovereignty and Children's Day on April 23, was the scene of great enthusiasm. Children enjoyed the holiday at the Children's Festival held at İsmet İnönü Sports Facilities. Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat also shared the joy of the Children's Festival with his daughters. On April 23, the Children's Festival included playgroups for children, magician shows, an animation team, fair games, workshops and surprise events.
23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day which was gifted by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk to all children of the world a hundred and two years ago, started with the official ceremony celebrations held in the morning. Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat and the district protocol attended the official ceremony held at Beşiktaş Anatolian High School. At the ceremony, which started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, Mayor Rıza Akpolat laid a wreath at Beşiktaş Atatürk Republic and Democracy Monument on behalf of all citizens. After the official ceremony, the signing day event for the book "Milk Vampire Emir", written by the writer Pelin Batu for children, took place at Beltaş Book Cafe.
Rıza Akpolat, who participated in the festival with his daughters, celebrated April 23 with the following words: ‘National sovereignty is given to the nation unconditionally. Celebrating 23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day, where the resulting joy and enthusiasm are given to children as a great holiday, we present our respect, love and gratitude to the great Atatürk and his friends in the struggle. April 23 has many meanings, but first of all, it is the first national holiday of the Republic of Turkey. On April 23, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, which is an important step in the epic struggle of our people on the way to liberation, was opened, It is the day when the Turkish people declared their sovereignty. Our Great Leader Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said: ‘April 23 is the beginning of the national history of Turkey and a new turning point. It expresses the wonder of the people of Turkey, who stood up against a whole world of hostility, in forming the Turkish Grand National Assembly.’ We are obliged to leave a better and brighter Turkey to the younger generations by commemorating the words of our father, "Protecting the homeland begins with protecting our children".
One of the surprises of the festival where gifts were distributed to our children was the bicycle draw. Mayor Akpolat, Beşiktaş District Governor Önder Bakan, Beşiktaş District Director of National Education Özcan Türkoğlu handed over their bikes to the winners of the draw.
