International Women’s Day Message from the Female Consul Generals in Istanbul

A meaningful March 8 International Women’s Day project from Beşiktaş Municipality…

The March 8 International Women's Day was celebrated in Istanbul through various events and the Beşiktaş Municipality brought together 16 female consul generals working in Istanbul at a meaningful project. With the purpose of drawing attention to social gender equality; the Beşiktaş Municipality broadcast a video where all the female consul generals conveyed their messages celebrating the International Women's Day in their national languages.

The video, which contains the messages of 16 female consuls general working in Istanbul, started with Ms. Adriana Octavia Ciamba who was appointed as the Consul General of Romania in Istanbul in 2013, continued with the Consul General of United Kingdom Ms. Judith Slater, the Consul General of Georgia Ms. Inga Kikvadze, the Consul General of Australia Ms. Jeffie Kaine, the Consul General of the Republic of Poland Ms. Joanna Pilecka, the Consul General of the Republic of Italy Ms. Elena Sgarbi, the Consul General of the Kingdom of Denmark Ms. Anette Snedgaard Galskkjot, the Consul General of the Republic of Croatia Ms. Ivana Zerec,  the Consul General of the Republic of Serbia Ms. Ivana Pejovic, the Consul General of the Slovak Republic Ms. Veronika Lombardini, the Consul General of the Republic of Korea Ms. Jessy Yeunju Jang, the Consul General of the United States of America Ms. Daria Darnell, the Consul General of the Republic of Albania Ms. Blerta Kadzadej, the Consul General of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ms. Seniha Birand Çınar, the Consul General of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Ms. Bo Lissett Margarita Hernandez Marquez, and ends with the Consul General of the Republic of Kosovo Ms. Suzan Novoberdaliu.

The Beşiktaş Mayor Mr. Rıza Akpolat shared this meaningful video with the #InternationalWomensDay hashtag on his social media account and sent the following message: “The female consul generals working in Istanbul celebrated the March 8 International Women's Day in their national languages. We stand by women in all the languages of the world on their struggle for equality and freedom.”
