A fire that started on 20 June in the area between Diyarbakır’s Çınar district and Mardin’s Mazıdağı district spread to residential areas and affected 17 villages. The fire, which could only be brought under control the following day, claimed the lives of 11 citizens -eight from Mardin and three from Diyarbakır-, leaving thousands of animals to suffer. Cooling efforts have begun in the affected area, where 556 sheep, lambs, and goats were confirmed dead. Beşiktaş Municipality quickly responded by sending a veterinary ambulance to aid injured animals in the region.
