As part of the Social Gender Equality Protocol; the Beşiktaş Municipality will provide their employees with trainings aimed at elimination of the inequality of men and women and also elimination of the violence against women.

Giving a speech at the ceremony, the Beşiktaş Acting Mayor Mr. Tahir Doğaç said, “Our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk performed many crucial works about women rights while establishing our state. But unfortunately it gives us a huge sorrow to see the pain suffered by women in our country at the moment. Today Ms. Canan Güllü and Ms. Ayça L. Akpek will sign the Protocol in my name. I hope this step will contribute to the struggle towards a more favorable country for women in our country.”

Mr. Mehmet Pehlivan, the President of the Istanbul Branch No.1 of the DİSK Genel- İş, said, “There will be deductions as a punishment on the salaries of the male workers who commit violence against women. And the Beşiktaş Municipality will be a first in terms of this practice.”
