Beşiktaş Municipality’s 3rd Annual Breakfast Meeting for Mission Representatives was held on February 28th, 2017 at the Four Seasons Hotel at the Bosphorus. The meeting was attended by the consul generals, honorary consuls and consuls in office in Istanbul representing 60 different countries. The meeting started with breakfast and during the breakfast, the attendees had a brief about the history, culture and recent activities and programs of the Beşiktaş and Beşiktaş Municipality. There were also discussions on bilateral relations, global terrorism and the current politics.
This was also an opportunity for Mayor Hazinedar to thank all the Consul Generals for their support & solidarity after the terrorists attacks in Beşiktaş. Mayor Hazinedar said, “Your reaction against the terrorist attacks and your solidarity with us during those difficult times meant a lot for us and all the Turkish People. I would like to thank you once more for your valuable support by stressing that terrorism is not only the problem of Turkey but also the whole world. Mayor Hazinedar also requested the mission representatives to carry on the message that Turkey is not a country living under the threat of terrorism and İstanbul is as secure as Paris, London or Brussel or any other western city.
Mayor Hazinedar also referred to the recent Hanukkah Festival in a public space in Beşiktaş for the first time in the history of the 93-year-old Turkish Republic as well as to the Christmas celebrations on the streets of Beşiktaş. He also remarked that, we held the Şeb-i Arus Ceremony (Rumi’s Night of Reunion) with our citizens and the representatives of all the 3 Abrahamic Religions. Because Beşiktaş is the symbol of the libertarian and active respect policy, both in Turkey and also for all the Muslim Countries” Mr. Mayor added. He completed his words with extending his thanks and respects to the esteemed guests attending the event.
