The European Mobility Week, which is aimed at improving public health and quality of life within Europe and has been held since 2002 by the European Union Parliament, was organized on September 16-22 this year. The Beşiktaş Municipality was one of the 2647 local governments from 53 countries that applied to the European Commission and registered to take part in the European Mobility Week this year, being one of the 24 Turkish municipalities participating the event.
As part of this week, the Beşiktaş Acting Mayor Mr. Tahir Doğaç was visited by a delegation from the EU Commission including Mr. Matej Zakonjšek who is the Head of Cabinet (Commissioner of Transport), Mr. Göktuğ Kara who is the Sustainable Transport Policy and Climate Change Sector Manager, and Mr. Angel Gutierrez who is the Head of the Economic and Social Cooperation Section.
Exchanging ideas on transport in Beşiktaş and Istanbul, Mr. Doğaç and the delegation had a fruitful meeting talking about good practices from around Europe.
