BEŞIKTAŞ MUNICIPALITY KEEPS SUPPORTING YOUTH!

The Beşiktaş Municipality continues to support voluntary activities of young people.

The youngsters who participated in our Municipality’s EVS project titled “European Volunteers from Beşiktaş”, which received grant from the Turkish Ministry of European Union Affairs, completed their service and returned to Istanbul.

Every year the Beşiktaş Municipality provides many young students with the opportunity to visit and get to know Europe for a certain period, through the projects of the Municipality. And this year, through our Project “European Volunteers from Beşiktaş”, 6 students attended the camp in Bari, Italy aimed at disadvantageous young people. As part of the Project, all the expenses of the students including accommodation, food, visa etc. were covered from the grant budget.

The 6 volunteers participating in our EVS Project “European Volunteers from Beşiktaş” who were in Bari, Italy for 2 months talked to our Municipality’s web TV Channel Beşiktaş Web TV and shared their experiences on the project.

What is European Voluntary Service (EVS)? 

The European Voluntary Service (EVS), which is open to all young people aged17-30, is an activity that enables participation in a social project in an EU state for periods of 2-12 months. 

The goal of the EVS is to support the engagement and participation of the youth to various voluntary activities carried out inside and outside the European Union. The EVS also offers young people the opportunity to take part in voluntary services at governmental and non-governmental organizations in various countries.

The EVS is a free-of-charge program and all the expenses such as accommodation, food, visa, health insurance, monthly allowances, etc. are covered by the Turkish Ministry of European Union Affairs and the Beşiktaş Municipality.   

After applying in January in 2017, the Beşiktaş Municipality was approved and accredited by the Turkish Ministry of European Union Affairs as a sending, hosting and coordinator organization for the EVS projects. Since then, our Municipality has been carrying out many EVS projects
