The ‘Very High Human Development’ prizes were awarded by the İNGEV (Human Development Foundation). At the prize-giving ceremony held as part of the Brand Week İstanbul 2018, municipalities were awarded according to their scores at the Human Development Index Report.
Taking the first place in the ‘Economic Situation Index’, ‘Education Index’ and the ‘Social Life Index’; the Beşiktaş Municipality was awarded with the ‘Very High Human Development’ Prize, which was received by Ms. Leyla Ünver, the Vice Mayor of the Beşiktaş Municipality, in representation of the Acing Mayor of the Beşiktaş Municipality Mr. Tahir Doğaç.
Previously, İNGEV’s Human Development Index – Districts Report, aimed at supporting human development within districts, had already been announced in June 2018. According to the results, Beşiktaş had taken the 1st place in the ‘Very High Human Development District’ Category (Green Category) and had achieved the first place in the ‘Main Index’ in 2017, in which it had taken the third place in 2016.
Human Development Indexes have been released on a country basis since 1990 by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Human Development Index, measured by dealing with income per capita, life expectancy at birth and rates of literacy and schooling is aiming to measure not economic growth alone but also health and education data and to compare countries.
