The Beşiktaş Municipality held a “Çanakkale Trip” for the sake of the 100th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory.
This year it is the 100th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory, which occupies a unique place in terms of the fact that it established the consciousness of becoming a nation and the base for the Turkish War of Independence…
In this respect, the Beşiktaş Municipality set off to Çanakkale through a huge convoy of 75 buses at night on June 12.
The “Çanakkale Trip”, organized by the Beşiktaş Municipality, was attended by thousands of citizens of Beşiktaş.
Arriving in Çanakkale in the morning on June 13, the convoy first met the guides in Kilitbahir. Then, the crowd visited the Regiment Martyrs' Cemetery (Alay Şehitliği), Chunuk Bair (Conk Bayırı) and the trenches dug during the war days. They also visited the museums there.
At the end of the trip, which was enriched with breaks for eating and picnic organizations, the convoy arrived at the Namazgah Bastion. After the Mevlit* Ceremony held for the sake of our martyrs who were killed in Namazgah Bastion during the war, movies were screened.
Atty. Murat Hazinedar, the Mayor of the Beşiktaş Municipality, who made a speech at the Namazgah Bastion, said “We are together here with thousands of our citizens through the spiritual piece of the Namazgah Bastion on the 100th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory. Çanakkale has an important place for the City of Beşiktaş, where the Republic culture and the consciousness of becoming a nation are quite high. As the Mayor of the Beşiktaş Municipality, it makes me really excited to be attending such a trip on the 100th anniversary together with the residents of Beşiktaş, which is where the very first steps of our War of Independence were taken, and to commemorate this tremendous victory of ours together”. The Mayor finalized his words by saying “There is no defense-line there is defense-surface, and that surface is the whole country. I bow to the memory of our ancestors respectfully.” After the ceremony at the Namazgah Bastion, which was broadcast live on Halk TV, the convoy set off back to Istanbul.
