Beşiktaş Cleaned Up by Citizens on World Cleanup Day!

The Beşiktaş Municipality held another meaningful event on September 15 the World Cleanup Day with the purpose of raising concern over environment pollution.

Gathering in the Darphane neighborhood, citizens and the staff members of the Beşiktaş Municipality collected garbage on the streets and avenues of Beşiktaş. The event, also attended by the Beşiktaş Acting Mayor Mr. Tahir Doğaç, attracted huge interest from the citizens, who shouted environment-friendly slogans.

Requesting the shop owners and the residents to be more sensitive to the environment, Mr. Doğaç took a broom and personally helped to clean up around. “Beyond all, cleaning is an essential duty, a civic duty for each citizen. Our district Beşiktaş is one of the cleanest districts all around Turkey, as our cleaning staff keeps working 24/7. Beşiktaş is a densely populated location. For this reason, we all need to be aware of the pollution issue. It’s our duty to leave a clean nature to our children and grandchildren. I would like thank each one of you for participating in this event and helping to raise awareness in this regard.” said Mr. Doğaç.

A lot of Beşiktaş residents, including young people and children, carried trash bags and collected all the garbage on the streets and avenues. They also carried placards and banners supporting environmental cleanliness and informing about pollution.
