19th May’s Joy was in Beşiktaş!

Beşiktaş Youth Festival was realized between the 16th and 19th of May in Sanatçılar Park and Barbarossa Square.

Our municipality celebrated 19th May, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day with a great enthusiasm in the youth festival that lasted for four days. The activities that started with “First Step March” ended with “Beşiktaş Color Run” and Zeynep Bastık concert on the 19th of May. 

The Festival Started with Youth Activities in Sanatçılar Park!

Beşiktaş Youth Festival’s concerts, interviews, fun performances and activities were at Sanatçılar Park and Barbarossa Square between the 16th and 19th of May. During the festival, young musicians from universities, interuniversity debate competition, Kafa Magazine’s interview with Nilay Örnek, Aylin Balboa, Celil Nalçakan, and Can Yılmaz, as well as Abur Cubur Show ongoing for years in which Rüştü Onur Atilla and Doğan Akdoğan takes their joyful conversation to the stage were hosted on the Sanatçılar Park stage.

“First Step March to Independence”

Celebrations started with “First Step March to Independence” in Akaretler where Atatürk lit the fire of national resistance movement on 16th May 1919. Beşiktaş citizens came together in front of Atatürk’s house in Akaretler, and marched to Beşiktaş Pier with flags in their hands while singing anthems. Beşiktaş citizens reaching Beşiktaş Pier with Mayor Rıza Akpolat’s lead left gillyflowers to the point where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk boarded Kartal Steamboat and started the national resistance movement.

Colorful Run in Beşiktaş!

The events that started with the official ceremony attended by the district protocol on the morning of 19 May continued with Beşiktaş Color Run at 5:00 PM. The run was commenced by Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat at Ortaköy Square and ended in Barbarossa Square. The run attracted a great interest by young people and streets of Beşiktaş were painted with all the colors.

Zeynep Bastık Got Everyone Excited!

19th May celebrations in Barbarossa Square kept on with Lapstekin’s DJ performance and KÖFN concert. Zeynep Bastık was on the stage at 09:00 PM. Tens of thousands young people filled with the joy of 19th May had lots of fun with Zeynep Bastık’s beloved songs. Zeynep Bastık who celebrated everyone’s 19th May, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day from the stage expressed that she feels very happy to be singing on the stage especially on 19th May in Beşiktaş. All the artists joined Beşiktaş Youth Festival were presented with the plaques of TEMA showing sapling donations made on the behalf of them.
